The game started off stong with two quick goals from Kaya Schwarz (’23) and Lola Reyes (’25), scoring within a minute of each other. From there, the girls continued to dominate and work together to hold their growing lead.

As it was just the third home game of the season, the team was still finding their footing together, but they managed to score the most amount of goals in a game this season. Reyes led the team with four goals, followed Brownrigg and Schwarz each with three goals.

By the first half the girls were up by 10 goals and looked forward to score even more the second half. Even goal keeper and co-captain Jordyn Feldman (’22) got a goal in the last minute.

The win instilled confidence in the players and excited them for their next game against El Segundo High School.

On Wednesday, March 23, the Samo girls’ lacrosse team took another home win against their rival team, El Segundo. A nail biter to say the least, the Wednesday game resulted in Samo winning by just two goals during a intense last few minutes.

The game started with two quick goals by Brownrigg and Brandt, giving the team confidence to keep pushing. As the first half came to a close, the teams kept the score tight within one or two goals of each other. Once halftime came, Coach Brian  Patenaude reminded his players to play quick and smart, emphasizing speed.

El Segundo was able to get two quick goals in the last two minutes, decreasing Samo’s lead by two goals, making the girls unsure whether they would win. Relief flooded the girls when the three whistles blew and they had won.

Heading into their next game against Downey High School, the girls knew what they had to work on and what to bring into their next game.
