2014-15 ASB cabinet elected via online elections

Around this time every year, students fill up the cafeteria, bubbling in circles on school ballots to elect their Associative Student Body (ASB) representatives for the upcoming year. This year, however, ASB has taken a more modern approach to elections and created personal online ballot based on students’ house memberships and grade levels.“It wasn’t a perfect system, but it’s definitely better than the ones we’ve used in the past.” Brian Matusovsky (’15) said. “We had over 1,200 people vote, which is about four times more then last year.”Despite his loss, Senior Class Vice President candidate Reed Ginsberg (’15) announced on Facebook that he will still live up to his promises.“To all my fellow Samo students, first I want to say thank you to all my supporters and let you know that I won’t stop just because I didn’t get the title,” Ginsberg said. “Just because I don’t have the title doesn’t mean that I won’t make our senior year great. To all my [juniors] out there sat classy and be the best alive.”After the elections results were tallied, Matusovsky was named ASB President by the student body.“I’m ready for a great year next year,” Matusovsky said, “I want to change the house system. This year, the advisories weren’t all on the same level. I want to make sure all the house reps know what they’re going to be doing for next year.”lgraham@thesamohi.com
