Spring sports take off: Boys' tennis

Gregory BoehmStaff WriterThe varsity boys' tennis team started its 2012 season last week in a home match against Harvard-Westlake High School. The team lost its first match 12-6."They[Harvard-Westlake] were a good team," senior team captain Chris Yuan said. "They are Division I and we are Division II. They also went to CIF finals last year."Yuan and three other team captains this year — Kellogg Adams, Christobal Rivera and Zachary Resnick — have been working hard to build the team chemistry over this past year and will continue to do so for the entirety of the season."Over the pre-season we had a few matches but we we're just trying to get more team bonding and build connections," Yuan said.The team has changed a bit since last year; it has lost a few seniors but also gained new freshmen players."This year we've lost three of our best seniors: Conner Treacy, Conrad and Alex," Adams said. "We made it to CIF finals last year and I think we have a good chance this year."As the team begins its season, Rivera has already made an impact in the eyes of his teammates. He is a team captain this year and in the match against Harvard-Westlake won all three of his matches."Christobal Rivera is one of our best players this year," Adams said.
