Boyd not returning next year

Bryn Boyd, Samo’s activities director, will not be returning to her position next school year. Boyd will instead be taking on a full schedule of social studies, specifically freshman seminar classes for the 2017-18 year.Boyd’s main duty as activities director was supervising and assisting the student members of ASB in their work. She announced the change to her ASB students on April 24.“The majority of ASB was upset and in shock,” Hannah Sabbe (’18), member of ASB and Vice President of the 17-18 year, said.Sabbe has been in ASB for her three years at Samo with Boyd as her supervisor.“I have gotten close to her and really enjoyed how she runs the class,” Sabbe said. “She has a deep understanding of this class and truly has had ours [Samo students] and the school's interest at heart.”The administration declined to say why Boyd will not be returning her administrative position, nor who her replacement will be.“We don't know what is going to happen in the class until there is a new advisor,” Sabbe said.The future for ASB and its director is unclear; bringing any new teacher in will be a difficult adjustment for the organization.
