Girls water polo holds Beverly scoreless in blowout win

Samo’s girls water polo team crushed Beverly Hills High School on Feb. 9, with a final score of 16-0.The team started off strong, not allowing any balls past them or letting anyone set up to shoot into the goal. The opposing team couldn’t get very far, scoring a total of zero points.“We ran a very strong defense,” Olivia Schwartz (’16) said. The girls were able to rack up a lot of points by always being in control of the ball.“We were constantly moving,” Arielle Melamed (’18) said. “We had lots of movement with the ball and were able to keep catch the other team off guard.”The Greenies are also working to improve for future games.“Communication is lacking,” Melamed said. “That’s the key to maintaining a strong connection throughout the game.”With the CIF playoffs coming up soon, the team is working harder than ever to make as many improvements as they can and work together as a team.“Our motivation to go to the CIF finals is what keeps us going,” Schwartz said.Samo’s girls water polo team is determined to continue pushing through all the way to CIF’s.
