Samo defeats Beverly Hills High School on Senior Night
In front of a decently-sized crowd, Samo’s boys lacrosse put on a show for their spectators by largely defeating their rival Beverly Hills High School on March 29, 15-2.Like always, Samo showed ease in all aspects of the game; on defence, they always controlled the opponent and on offence, they had good ball movement and were clinical in front of goal. According to Ryan Lai (’19), the victory can be attributed to the team’s coaches.“We have great coaches and we made a lot of smart plays,” Lai (’19) said. “We also picked up ground balls which is essential to winning and scoring.”Like in many rivalry games, the tension was pretty high which can be seen in the action that brought down captain Parker Furlong (’17) who had to be walked out, but reentered the field a bit later“We controlled the game from start to finish,” Kyle Atwater (’18) said. “It’s always good to be rewarded with a win against Beverly Hills.”Winning on Senior Night is always pleasurable for the players, but on this specific night, Samo was focused on expanding their season long unbeaten run. Their streak, which is now at 12 straight wins, will be put to the test in a tough home game against El Segundo High School on April 19.
