Day N Night Music Festival

On Friday, Sept. 8, thousands of young music-lovers congregated in Anaheim, California for the Day N Night Music Festival. Open to all ages, Day N Night is a star-studded event, hosting over 100 well known and talented musicians performing around the clock. Many Samo students attended the event with their friends, drawn in by the performances of some of their favorite artists. From Kendrick Lamar to Post Malone, there was a large variety of musicians that got teens excited for the shows. Abbie Grossman (’19) went with a group of friends from school, and was excited to see to a lot of different performers. “I was looking forward to a ton of artists. Some of the main ones were The Headlines, Post Malone, Russ and Lil Uzi Vert. My friends were all really excited for Lil Pump too,” Grossman said. The festival runs from Friday to Sunday annually, and it’s common for attendees to stay multiple nights in Anaheim. This is a draw for many Samo students who want to stay overnight at a concert with friends. The festival is close enough to Santa Monica that many parents feel comfortable letting their children stay overnight. Having that freedom and independence made many attendees excited to bond with their friends.“The whole event was just so much fun. We got put up onto each other’s shoulders during the sets, and it was super cool to see the music and hear everyone. Also, it is a music festival, so it’s bound to be pretty exciting,” Grossman said.Even more exciting however, was the drama that ensued between two artists performing at Day N Night. Artist Trippie Redd was apparently fed up with fellow festival performer Tayf3rd, and punches were thrown backstage. While none of the fans actually saw the fight, videos were released and circulated around the festival, creating buzz throughout the audiences. Dutch Lennon (’19) was one of many immersed in the commotion.“There were so many crazy and unbelievable moments that happened at Day N Night that weekend. It was so insane,” Lennon said.Despite the drama, everyone who attended the festival had an amazing time. Each day of the festival had different artists with performances that made the audience excited and ready for more. Mckenna Davis (’19) went with her friends, and will never forget the weekend. “Day N Night was so much fun,” Davis said. “I will definitely be buying tickets next year!”
