What to do during the two-minute break

Although the two minute break Samohi is lucky enough to have integrated into our bell schedule usually goes unnoticed, the immense stretch of time can be used in countless ways. Here are four exciting and unique ways to spend the break! Just make sure you account for the travel time to and from the location to your classes!

  1. Take a dip in Samo’s varied bodies of water

Take a quick dip in the Drake Pool, located directly below the Greeks. This is especially refreshing on a really hot day. For all you know, Flanders could be standing in the bleachers and scout you to join the swim team. On the flip side, if it rains, a quick polar plunge in Lake Samo is the perfect added excitement to any school day. If you’re lucky enough, you may happen to be one of the few people swimming while a surge of electricity rushes through the water. This shock could be just what you need to stay awake for the rest of the day after cramming for that APUSH test last night. We highly recommend it.

  1. Make out with your significant other in the hallways

Everyone loves a little bit of PDA! Grab your significant other, or better yet, some rando and get smooching! Your peers will greatly appreciate you for this and anyone who says otherwise is just jealous. The best part is the opportunity for your teachers and even Dr. Shelton himself to see your passionate display of teenage romance!

  1. Join the Juul Club for a quick hit

Located in the first floor history building storage closet, this group invites almost anyone to join them. The only people they will turn away are fiending freshmen. The only requirement is that you must BYOJ - no “I have my own pod, can I just borrow your bat?” allowed here! This is a great way to bond with students that have similar interests to you as well! Colleges love club participation!

  1. Head down to the esteemed dance studio

Prom WAS right around the corner, so it is important to brush up on those dance moves of yours. They have undoubtedly gotten a bit rusty since your middle school days, when you would attend Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and would bust out your best moves to Party Rock Anthem in the middle of the dance circle. For the more traditional dances, think back to the countless skills taught during fifth grade Ballroom dancing and get practicing by heading down to Samo’s Dance studio located on the second floor of the south gym. With just two minutes of training a day, you can (hopefully) prevent yourself from looking like a fool while on the dancefloor - or on Zoom - with your crush.
