Tips to pass your driving test
When on the road to getting your driver’s license, it is normal to encounter some bumps along the way. Practicing with parents can be stressful, tests can be convoluted and proctors are picky. Here’s a guide to making the rite of passage that is driving a little smoother of a ride.
- Decide which DMV you want to take the driver’s test, and get familiar with the area. This will allow you to be more comfortable going into the test, and help you avoid driving in foreign grounds in an already stressful situation.
- Brush up on the California Driver Handbook. Make sure you know all of the rules of the road to avoid any mistakes on the test.
- Always, always, always check your mirrors. Checking your mirrors ensures you’re making safe driving decisions while changing lanes or making turns. Proctors are very strict on checking your mirrors before switching lanes, especially in Santa Monica where our bike lanes require you to be extra careful.
- Be aware of your surroundings. Remember that you have to cooperate with other drivers to prevent accidents and be a safe driver.
- Try to relax. If you’re taking this test, you should have hours upon hours of practice and be an experienced and safe driver. Don’t let testing anxiety stop you from getting your license, just focus on your driving.
