Your mission: find the perfect study spot

With finals quickly approaching, the dreaded hours of compulsory studying have arrived. Since students are already stressing about hitting deadlines and finishing the semester strong, the setting in which you study can often be equally as important as the material. It is difficult to find a quiet, but not too quiet, place to study. But warning: finding the perfect study spot is a dangerous task, for you may find yourself using the search itself as a procrastination method. Remember you must always move forward.  Here are a few good spots.Different people define the perfect study spot differently. While some need a place with absolute silence, others prefer a spot with a subdued noise. The Capital One Cafe tailors to both of these requirements. Perched on the corner of 4th and Broadway, this cafe provides multiple studying climates. The purpose of the Capital One Cafe is to support people in their banking endeavours, so the main idea behind it was to create a productive workspace. There is a light, open main room with tables and typical coffee shop noises. Further inside the cafe are “nooks”: individual spaces that have comfy chairs, a table and a sliding glass door in order to isolate oneself. In the back, are multiple conference rooms that have one long table and about six chairs. These rooms are perfect for study groups or projects; the nooks are first come first serve and the rooms can be reserved. Another great spot is Metro Cafe, which is located on Arizona and 6th. This coffee shop has a homey feeling with lots of seating, both inside and outside. Even though there is plenty seating, this cafe gets crowded, and it is sometimes difficult to find an open table inside. However, there is lots of outside seating where you can usually find a table. The outside seating is shaded by tall trees and shade coverings, which creates a nice outdoor study space. Lastly, Rose Cafe has a great study environment. Located on Rose Ave and Main St, this Cafe has many options for seating. There is a light outdoor area in the front, a large indoor area and an atrium enclosed by little trees and vines. In addition to the varying seating, you can order at the register and get a coffee, pastry or small meal, if you want a more causal experience, or you can sit down to order if you want a larger meal. Having a great study spot is crucial to your finals experience and results. Sitting down for a few hours of uninterrupted studying can make a major difference during the exam, but only if you are in the right environment and have a working mindset.
