With a mission to get students involved in student-run groups on campus, ASB organized the annual Club Row on Sept.26, where an assortment of clubs recruited new members. Club Row this year was located on the Centennial Quad, during lunch time. Over 30 clubs participated, advocating for topics ranging from weightlifting to human rights- reflecting the diversity of Samo students’ interests. El Salvador’s Angels: Daniela Escobar (’20)This club is teaming up with the organization La Semillita Azul to raise money to get children some of the basic living resources they are lacking. The club will consist of many fundraisers to achieve our goals. Wednesday L206 Bee Aware: Janet Yang (’20)About helping to save bees and spreading awareness. Since bees play a huge role in our population, it’s essential to save the declining population. Tuesday E109 Music Mentors: Ava Nickman (’20)Supports music in public schools. It helps raise money for our arts programs, volunteer with nonprofit music groups for community service hours and even teach free lessons to beginner students. Wednesday H102 Samo Youth Engineering: Thomas Xu (’18) and Nir Ribak (’18)This engineering club is going to build a Rube Goldberg machine. Monday I223 Opportunity for Education: Anan Waktole (’20) Holds various fundraising events that goes to creating schools in Ethiopia. This year, the club is raising money to build a well. This well will give girls time for education, so they don’t have to travel so far for water. Friday E213 Building Bridges: Aidan Blain (’20) and Stephanie Hernandez (’20)Human relations organization dedicated to eliminating bias, bigotry and racism through education, conflict/resolution and advocacy.Friday B106 Human Rights Watch: Anya Strum (’18) Addie Lloyd (’18)Supports human rights, learn about more about DACA and endorse the rights of thousands of undocumented immigrants. Tuesday L103 Help Give Hope: Lily Rafat (’20) Siri Storstein (’20) and Emi Ward (’20)This club will make beaded bracelets and sell them throughout the community and buy backpacks with supplies to hand out to the homeless in Santa Monica. Tuesday E117 Current Events: Riley Wallace (’19) and Spenscer Greenberg (’19) Open to students with any ideas/topics they want to discuss. Wednesday H203 Samo Solar Alliance: Ava Wason (’20) An environmental club Tuesday H218 Samo Boys and Girls Club: Kimiya Aframian (’20) and Sarah Ogata (’20) Offers fundraising and community service opportunities for students. Participants can volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club of Venice or aid in fundraising for the organization. Thursday. Room: TBD Given Limb: Melea Kaplan (’20)Holds fundraisers to donate to the Given Limb Foundation which supplies prosthetics and classes to improve the lives of veterans and other individuals with amputations or diminished use of their limbs.
