Move over movie theaters: it's time to chill

Many used to go to the theater for a nice date, some buttery popcorn or a great way to beat the summer heat. However, with the rise of Netflix rom-coms and other original films, it’s questionable whether the blockbuster movie theater experience is still worth it. In short, it’s not. Netflix original films have made the entire movie theater experience mostly unnecessary. The idea of paying more to a sit in a crowded movie theater is simply not an attractive option. One of the most important reasons Netflix is a better experience it that it is dramatically less money. The best Netflix plan available, with HD, Ultra HD, and the ability to watch on four screens at once, is $14 per month. In comparison, one AMC movie ticket is around $16. And that’s only one ticket; actually enjoying the whole experience with friends and loved ones will set you back 30, 40 maybe upwards of $50 . And what if you want to see the movie again? That’s another 30, 40, 50 bucks for each time you want to gather a group to watch a film that you loved. The Netflix experience allows you to pause, rewind, and replay your favorite film for as long as you please, granted your laptop doesn’t die. Maybe it would all be worth it if you got the bang for your buck, so to speak. In order for movie theaters to be the more attractive option they need to offer more. Reclining chairs and a big screen is nice, but having an entire couch and a flat screen or laptop to yourself is better. Plus there are no not-so-quiet whisperers, loud texters or excessive PDA to distract you from the movie. But if you want to, all those things and literally whatever else you want can be done while watching Netflix in the comfort of your own home. Remember, movie theater etiquette applies solely to the movie theater.  So loudly munch away on your popcorn and text whomever you please while reclining nicely and cheaply on your couch with loved ones, enjoying the best home experience that Netflix has to offer.
