Girls lacrosse falls to El Segundo on Senior Night

On April 18, the girls lacrosse team lost to El Segundo High School in their last home game of the season, with a score of 6-15.Samo started the game on par with El Segundo. With strong drives to the goal and cohesive defensive efforts they were able to stay close behind El Segundo at the half, and were only down 3-4. “The team played as a unit in all aspects of the game during the first half,” Coach Brian Patenaude said. “The defense stayed focused, we were able to clear the ball the the offense and the offense was moving the ball well which allowed for good shots.”The second half was a different story for the team, and they were unable to maintain their high level of play from earlier in the game. The Samo defense was unable to handle the dynamic El Segundo offense, and their opponents went on to score 11 goals in the second half.“We lost our focus during the second half.  We started to ball watch which allowed the other team to get open on offense and take many shots on goal.  We also began to have trouble getting the ball to our offense,” Patenaude said.Going into next game, Patenaude hopes that the team is able to keep playing with high efforts throughout the entirety of the game.We are unable to win if we play hard for half a game.  I hope we are able to stay focused for an entire game, which includes doing the little things right such as catching, throwing and coming up with ground balls,” Patenaude said. The girls lacrosse final game is on Friday, April 27, at Beverly Hills High School.
