Five tips for your five days: quarantine survival guide
Hawene Alemayehu, Staff Writer
Due to the recent Omicron surge, many Samo students have found themselves quarantined and away from school for at least five days after testing positive. However, even though they are at home, the school day continues. Here’s a simple survival guide to keeping up with work, relieving boredom and staying healthy.
Tip #1: Don’t procrastinate
It can be easy getting comfortable with not doing work, but developing a productive routine during isolation is important for getting work done. A good way to balance studying and relaxing is to work on school assignments for 25-minutes and take 10-minute breaks in between.
Tip #2: Pick up a new hobby
Since quarantining can be a lonely job, it might be a good time to pick up a new hobby or restore an old one. Picking up a new book, drawing or journaling are great options.
Tip #3: Clean up and clean out
It’s a new year and being quarantined is a great time to go clean out rooms and organize supplies for school. Being organized can help students have a more productive year.
Tip #4: Get some air
If symptoms are resolving or are gone completely, mask up and go get some exercise. If not, make sure you keep track of your symptoms and isolate yourself from others.
Tip #5: Watch a new movie or show
Indulge in some great shows and movies throughout the quarantine. Nothing says relaxing more than enjoying a movie or an episode of a show at home. Discovering a new show is a great way to pass time and add more to your pallet.
Incorporating these survival steps will help students pass time during quarantine. However, with COVID-19 cases declining, we should see less students in quarantine and back in the classrooms.
