Samo’s girls’ golf season is coming to a close. Although they did not win any matches, the team was able to distinguish their strengths both as individuals and as a group during the season.

Girls’ golf performed in matches every Tuesday and Thursday at Rancho Park, located in West Los Angeles. According to the teams’ coach, Daniel Ramos, despite their losses, the team was able to consistently improve over the course of the season during their matches.

“The team has improved in our matches, but still hasn’t won a match in a very tough league...the summary of our team is steady improvement closing out their season,” Ramos said.

Moreover, golfers Leila Chammaa (’23) and Paula Cortes Hernandez (’23) both made it to the Individual League Finals on Oct. 18 in Long Beach, California. Chammaa was awarded fifteenth place in the competition.

Throughout their season, girls’ golf persevered and was able to make strides toward success. While some sports teams gauge their accomplishments with the amount of games they have won, girls’ golf does not do that—rather, they gauge their accomplishments on the amount of growth they experience.

“My highlight for this season was definitely seeing my team progress as a whole and watching all of us individualy uncover our strengths in the game. I’m sad that our matches have come to an end, but hopefully improvement and more recognition for the team comes along,” Chammaa said.
