I-House Halloween Festival raises student spirit

The I-House Halloween Fest offered food and candy on Oct. 29 in an effort to celebrate Halloween and raise morale among I-House students, according to I-House Principal Florence Culpepper.

At the event, I-House students, parents and advisers volunteered to set up chow mien, Diddy Riese cookies, drinks, fruit and candy on tables, while others set up speakers to play music by popular artists such as Lana del Ray.Culpepper said that the event created a setting for I-House students to interact.“The purpose is to celebrate the season and create a time when I-House students can enjoy each others' company with food and games," Culpepper said. "House events are always aimed at increasing student excitement about belonging to the house and providing opportunities to interact with each other in a fun environment."The I-house Halloween Festival helped implement a family feeling, according to I-House Representative Yahn Bruggeman."This year, we are focusing much more on school pride and unity, and houses play a major role in that," Bruggeman said. "I feel more like a family with other students because of events like these [and] because I am able to meet [other] I-House students, and see what they want done, and feel more as a whole."
