Water fountain springs leak in Language Building

The bottom floor of the Language Building is undergoing construction due to damages caused by a water fountain leak on Monday, January 13 .According to Samo math teacher Nicole Yumori, the construction has been a burden on faculty and students."Part of the area that has been shut down was a staff bathroom, so now all the teachers have to share a single bathroom which has been very difficult," Yumori said.Joseph Robson ('16) said that the closure of the Language Building's staircase has made it difficult to get to class on time."It's been a real burden to get my class on time because I have to walk around the whole building to get up the stairs. I really hope that this gets fixed quickly," Robson said.Construction site worker Ernie Odio believes that the work has been done in a timely manner and should be finished within the next few days."We're putting on the finishing touches now and the tiles should be ready for students to walk on in the next few days." Odio said.Rayna Battista ('16) has two classes in the bottom floor of the Language building and said that she was late for class on more than one occasion because of the construction."I tried to go my normal route but it was blocked so I had to go the other way which made me late to class. It is really frustrating to not have ay signs of construction until you're right there. I wish there were more signs telling students that they have to go around." Battista said.According to Psychology teacher Charles Thun, whose classroom was directly affected by the leak, the transition of moving his classroom due to construction has been quite seamless."There's really nothing we could do about it, the construction has to be done because the water damage could end up causing even worse damage if it isn't taken care of," Thun said. "It's been a bit of an inconvenience but we have enough space in this temporary classroom and I've been told that we'll make the move back downstairs sometime this weekend."
