Samo's Cross Country team performing well

Samo's Cross Country team ran towards success at the Woodbridge Classic invitational on Friday, Sept. 14.“I think we’ve had [a] really good turn this season so far, but I think that everyone is going to get a lot better," senior Alice Wasserman said.Wasserman ran the three mile individual at 17:54, leading the girls to seventh in the Red Division. The teams are already doing very well, with senior and captain Eric Gironda running under 16 minutes for the first time (15:47) and freshman Lucas Jackson running a 16:40, finishing in the top ten, despite the fact that he was sick. However, the biggest victory of the night was junior Arden Lassalle winning first place in the boys, junior category and leading the boys team to second place.“The time I got wasn’t my best time," Lassalle said. "It was a little disappointing for me. But, the first place was still really, really great. It felt pretty awesome."Lassalle said the team deserved the win.“We’ve all been training really, really hard, and I think it payed off,” Lassalle said.“I think [Coach] Fisher is really happy, and she sees the improvement that we all made," Wasserman said. "I think she’s happy because we’re learning how to work together.”cdebeus@thesamohi.com
