Boys’ Soccer beats Crossroads 3-0

With a solid 3-0 win against Crossroads High School on December 10, the boys' soccer team is continuing to improve its chemistry on the field. During the first half of the game, midfielder Eric Shanley (’16) made a header and scored a goal. The goal motivated the team to push hard throughout the rest of the game.During the second half forward and midfielder Diego Serrano (’15) made his way toward the goal and crossed the ball to midfielder Jason Bautista (’14) who then scored, bringing the score 2-0 in Samo's favor.The goal that secured the win was a  rebound by forward Giancarlo Canas (’15) after the Crossroads goal keeper blocked Christian Palomares’ (’16) attempt to score.According to Coach Serafin Rodriguez, the game allowed all of the team members play and gave the team a boost of confidence.“It gave us a good opportunity to see some of the guys who don’t get a lot of minutes play,” Rodriguez said. “A lot of them surprised us.”Forward Javier Lopez ('14) said that the team is improving every game and building good chemistry on the field.“By far this is the best we’ve played,” Lopez said. “We played like a team today. We were able to connect passes this time.”According to Lopez, the team’s ability to pass and cross well improved their playing.“The last two games we were only able to connect two consecutive passes and if not we would lose [the ball],” Lopez said. “Today was actually a really good day for us. We should be pretty solid once we hit playoffs.”
