Disney pep rally sings

Beat Beverly t-shirts, beach balls, baby powder, silly string and noisemakers were ubiquitous at the Disney themed pep rally for the winter sports teams on Jan. 23.“ASB has put a lot of work into putting together this rally,” ASB member Roheen Karimali (’15) said. The sports teams “showed their hype” with choreographed dance routines, freestyling and loud mosh pits.“[ASB] invited all the winter sports to dance because it’s a fun tradition,” ASB member Julianne Kelly (’16) said. “The crowd responds well to it. It’s up to them if they want to make their songs go with the [Disney] theme. Whether they do or not, we just want them to have their moment acknowledged by the whole school.”ASB selected random students to participate in a range of Disney-themed games. Participants also
won prizes for their efforts. The loudest crowd members were gifted with free pizza. Also, house points and Disneyland tickets were given to the winners of the competitions.“Our ASB administrator has been super on top of getting gift certificates and prizes so there [were] a lot of give-aways for those being interactive in the audience,” Kelly said. The rally ended in a contest between staff members who represented their houses, dancing to the song “I Will Survive” in full costume. The contest ended in a tie between S-House’s Amy Chapman and O-House’s Jennifer Pust.“There were a lot of small details that could have been done better,” ASB President Brian Matusovsky said. “But, we do our best to make the pep rallies enjoyable for everyone.”jlevin@thesamohi.com
