Boys golf hits their season on the tee
On Mar. 6, the boys golf team teed off their spring season against West Torrance High School at the Ranch Park Golf Course. Beginning in Jan., the team has been practicing Monday through Thursday every week, either at the driving range or playing at Ranch Park.“As a team we’ve been playing a lot. At least two times a week. Sometimes more,” Major Levin (’18) said. “As for me I’ve been working on my game off the tee with my driver. Just hitting a lot of balls at the range. Repetition is how I’ll improve.”Going into the season, the team is confident in its assortment of talents. According to David Shandalov (’17), the team has some really talented players that make the team stronger. One of the team’s player is Brandon McDonough (’18), a golfer who from the start of his high school career has been very successful and a big asset to the team. “Our strengths would probably be a strong team bond and Brandon, he’s by far our best player and a great teammate,” Levin said. This year McDonough hopes to build on his success from last year and to help the team win league.“[My goal is] just to win league, both with the team and the individual,” McDonough said. “Having the best scoring record would be nice, but my priorities are set on league.”In addition, Jackson Hyde-White (’19) and the team are aiming for a season full of improvement with the overall goal of making a run in playoffs.“I hope to have strong personal performances, and to continue improving my game,” Hyde-White said. “As a team, we are hoping to win league [and] put up a fight in CIF.”
