Boys volleyball wins against rival in a clean sweep
On March 7, in their sixth game of the season, boys volleyball achieved another win with a final score 2-0 against their rivals: Beverly Hills High School. This leaves them undefeated in the season with a record of 6-0-0 so far.The entirety of both games were completely dominated by Samo. The crowd cheered them on as they scored point after point. The opposing team’s coach repeatedly tried to spur the team to action to no avail. The first game started out quietly, but the intensity was high between the rivals. But SAMOs team was confident in their capability to beat Beverly and quickly pulled into the lead.“We knew we were going to be a lot better than Beverly,” John Schwengel (’18) said. “Going into that first round we really just put in all our effort and tried to score as many points as we could, and I think we succeeded in doing that.”The first match ended with a score of 25-11. Beverly looked devastated as Samo went to the sidelines cheering. Despite this, Beverly went into the second match with confidence, however this proved to be of no use against Samo.“The game definitely depends on the whole team immediately adapting to any situation and getting in the right position to set up our own shot,” Sam Wittert (’17) said. ”Throughout this game we did that well, we were able to return every ball and then score. The second match ended with a score of 25-15. The boys volleyball team’s next match will be on March 9 versus Culver City.
