Boys lacrosse prepares for 2-17 season

On Mar. 3, Samo’s boys lacrosse team began their season against Brentwood High School at home. Since the beginning of the school year, the team has been practicing regularly and have high hopes for their season.“Strength and conditioning have been a large part of our offseason preparation,” coach Benjamin Keiser said. “In addition we have been working on individual and team concepts as well as breaking down film and learning in the classroom.”For six months, the team has been practicing as well as featuring in a winter box league, a preseason league, which has improved their team chemistry. In addition, many of the student athletes are also good friends outside of school.“A lot of the players get together to hang out outside of school and go to the library together to do homework between the end of school and our practice time,” Keiser said. “We've had a couple of team dinners, get togethers, and a fundraising bake sale.”The players along with their coach expect great things from this season.“The sky's the limit for these young student athletes,” Keiser said. “They have worked extremely hard in the offseason and are mentally and physically prepared for any team that they face. All they need to do is work hard and execute on the field.”The players will be competing in a tough league in the upcoming two months but will also take the time to give back to surrounding communities, teaching Lacrosse in school programs in Compton.
