Boys lacrosse runs up the scoreboard in win over Downey
Downey High School was taken down by Samo’s boys lacrosse team on Tuesday, April 26 with a final score of 20-10. Although it was an easy team to defeat in this game, they have the potential to be dangerous to Samo in the near future if they keep developing, according to defender Micah Jamieson (’17). “They’re a new team so they were easy but they’re a rising force,” Jamieson said. “They’re getting better each year and it’s nice to see them developing.” Right after the horn blew to begin the game, Samo scored a goal and set the pace of the game. Although this game was not as rigorous, it was still a spectacle to watch. The teams exchanged goal shots back and forth and it seemed as though the defense on both teams were lacking the energy that the offense had. “We played very well on offense but we need to work on our recoveries and approaches on defense,” midfielder Collin Ferrara (’17) said. The defense was slower this game but the offense was on point, according to Jamieson. He felt that the defense slacked off creating mistakes that shouldn’t have been created in the first place and could cost the game. The final home game this season for the boys lacrosse team is Friday, April 29 against Beverly Hills High School and the players are prepared with minor adjustments to their game. “In order to improve for our final game, we only need to work on staying together as a team for the end of the game.” midfielder Trevor Barriga (’16) said.
