Girls Golf Defeats Redondo Union
On Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Samo girls golf team defeated Redondo Union High School by eight strokes at the Penmar golf course. According to Karina Davanzo (’19), the team had been practicing more and became more dedicated than last year which lead to them doubling their numbers of wins from the previous season.“The game today went great," Davanzo said. "I have been working on my driver and today it went really well. As a whole team I think the chipping still needs some work and we are all practicing hard."Co-captain Julia Engfer (’17) was also very satisfied with how the game went. “Today at our match we did very well. We kept on task while having fun with our opponent Redondo. The Samohi girls varsity golf team is really coming along nicely; I’m very proud of our girls,” Engfer said.Next Thursday, the girls golf team will take on West Torrance at 2:45 p.m.. Co-captain Emily Goldman (’18) hopes to improve her game and help the team win again.“I hope we can get another win and that I can get a lower score on an away course," Goldman said. "Most of all since it’s one of our last games, I hope we can just have fun as a team.”
