Samo dominates in game against Beverly
Samo has never looked as good as when they beat their rival, Beverly Hills High School, with a score of 43-0. Samo was on a roll, and didn't allow Beverley to score once. The team looked at an all time high as almost drive down the field, resulted in a touchdown. Tony Holley (’17) played extremely well, scoring two touchdowns for Samo. Holley seemed to be the fastest on the field, and no one could catch him when he got the ball. His synergy with quarterback Darius Sayson (’18) was off the charts. Sayson would provide the perfect pass to Holley, who would take that pass and convert it to a run down field. But Sayson wasn’t only making good touchdowns as he also had an outstanding rushing touchdown. “I played really well with the help of my teammates,” Sayson said. “The team played extremely well all together. Beverly was our bounce back game to gain our confidence back and we did just that.”Wide receiver Cameron Bennett (’18) and runningback Tony Dancey (’18) were unstoppable and gave it their all. Bennett scored with hard runs into the end zone along with Dancey. Although there were amazing plays throughout the night, it was their selflessness of the team that highlighted the game.“To be honest, if it wasn’t for my line I don’t think I would have been able to score. So I give all credit to them,” Dancey said. “We just have been grinding every practice and just putting in all we got and that’s it we just gotta push it out.”Things are looking good for Dancey, as it’s only his junior year. It’s fair to assume that we can expect big things from him the rest of this year and next. Coach Lambert seemed so proud of his team this game.“I think it was one the most unselfish performances I’ve seen in my life,” Lambert said. “I had two guys run out of bounds on purpose to get one of our other teammates a carry to score on two plays and I’ve never seen that in my life. That was great start to the game, to start with that unselfishness.”The rest of the season is looking good, as the football team stands 1-2 in the Ocean League.
