Boys lacrosse falls to Palisades
In a game against Palisades Charter High School on Thursday, April 21, Samo lost 4-13. It was a rough game to play as it was to watch. The team had not yet played Pali this season due to scheduling changes so this beat down was unexpected. According to assistant coach Eamon Burke, the boys did not expect such competition and they thought the game was going to be easier. “I thought we came out a little slow which turned to an early goal lead for them and we had trouble rebounding,” Burke said. “It was one of those games that is a lot to learn from and we will talk about it in practice moving forward.” Samo came out strong in the beginning by winning face-offs and possessing the ball well but started to lose their momentum by the fourth goal against them. After halftime, Samo came together as a team and started to bring their A-game by communicating more and taking control of the situation. “I think individually, we played decent but could be improved on playing as a team," defender Connor Bass (’18) said. "We all have to potential to play together and win, which we usually do. But after the recent losses by [just one] goal against El Segundo and Culver City, I think our team moral was down."There are two more games this season and because the boys were shook, they intend to work harder and win the last two games against Downey and Beverly Hills, according to defense Micah Jamieson (’17) “I find lacrosse a really riveting sport and it’s exhilarating to play,” Jamieson (‘17) said. “Although training for it makes you want to throw up and you do throw up, it’s worth it in the end.”
