Fortnite video game review
“Fortnite”, an arena-style sandbox survival third-person shooter (TPS) game, has appeared out of nowhere and risen to popularity. Developed by Epic Games and People Can Fly, the indie game makes each round fresh and engaging in a genre that, in other games, can be stale and repetitive. Despite having a basic premise, it feels unique and charming. Its graphics are bright and cartoony, which is unexpected and pleasant. It’s one factor that makes “Fortnite” a fun game to watch as well as to play. Some games are slow, confusing or just boring to watch, but Fortnite seems to have entertaining gameplay down. “Fortnite” is currently a paid early release on PC and Console. A full, free-to-play release is expected in 2018. It has a campaign mode where players fight off waves of zombies and a mode called Battle Royale which feels like Minecraft Survival Games’ miracle offspring.Battle Royale is set on an island with small clusters of towns, mountains and forests. It starts with 100 players. As the match progresses, a toxic storm forms an ever-shrinking barrier that forces the remaining players closer together. One can play as aggressively or as passively as they like, but everyone has to avoid the storm. The different weapons available, suited for different situations, add another layer of strategic depth to “Fortnite”.Overall, I enjoy “Fortnite”! It has some issues related to mechanics and lag that it needs to work out but it’s a rough gem with a lot of potential. It’ll be interesting to see what changes are made when the finished game is released.
