Interesting people at Samo: Juliette Dana Vale
Samo is home to many interesting students with varying interests. Juliette Dana Vale (’20), Leo Gilman (’21), Eleanor Hutman (’20) and Kole Lee (’21) are four students who are passionate about their specific interests. About one year ago, Juliette Dana Vale (’20) took an interest in Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR). Since then, she’s begun making videos on youtube that feature sounds which are meant to spark an emotion and sensory stimulation. ASMR is a sensory experience evoked by different sounds. Dana Vale strives for her videos to be satisfying and provide calming sensations to her viewers. “When I watch them I feel really relaxed and I know a lot of my friends like ASMR so I thought, why don’t I make it? I thought it would be a cool thing, and it’s a good hobby,” Dana Vale said. Currently, she has three videos on her YouTube account: Pupo Tita. The most recent videos feature her eating ice, flipping book pages and playing with slime. She is working on another video right now, and the theme is Chick-fil-A and story time. In the video, she will be getting a variety of Chick-fil-A foods and eating it with a group of friends while talking in low, calming voices. Juliette explained that it does not require a lot of equipment to make her videos, all she uses is a phone and microphone. One of her favorite things about ASMR is the production process because she gets to be creative and spend time with friends. “I usually record them with friends and my boyfriend so just being with close people and the bloopers and just laughing and just being with them and being able to do whatever we feel like,” Dana Vale said.
