Baseball swings into the new season

As spring arrives, Samo’s baseball team is moving full steam ahead in order to prepare for their pre and offseason games. Coach Adam Klein has put together a challenging schedule for a competitive team to play in Ocean League.  All levels of the baseball team have been put into a rigorous tournament that allows them to play against other teams, especially those from the valley areas. It’s an important event to participate in to offer a chance to work on defensive, as well as offensive tactics in the preseason, to iron out all the mistakes before the games truly count. Froshsoph coach Luke Henderson has stated the importance of this.  “It is important to observe all players under pressure and establish pitching rotations,” Henderson said. Klein, with seven years of professional baseball experience, offers a great archive of the ins and outs of baseball. And with a great team of advisors and players, the team’s chances for success in CIF have never been higher. One of the varsity captains, Michael Finkelstein (’18), voiced his opinion on the team. “Our team is really talented, and we started slow but are now hitting our stride,” Finkelstein said. With great experience and practice, the team is looking up for this season. With their March 13 game being their best, scoring 15-1 against the North High School, in contrast to their first game loss to the Windward High School Wildcats 2-3, the team has clearly learned a lot and has a bright future ahead of them.
