Boys' tennis finishes last home match on top

Boys’ tennis beat Beverly Hills High School 10-8 on Thursday, March 28. This game was filled with comradery and excitement. Throughout the game the team encouraged each other to do their best to beat their main rival, Beverly. The team did a great job, running down every ball and using great technique on their strokes. However, there was room for a little improvement in their serves. “The team was struggling with serves and pressure when it was critical points. But the team worked very hard after that game and killed it at Beverly,” Nino Collias ('19) said. This game meant a lot to seniors Josh Segal ('19) and Collias because it was their last home game at Samo before graduation. Both Segal and Collias are going to miss working together and cheering on the team. “I'm going to miss the fun environment and energy the tennis team at Samohi brings,” Segal said As of April 4, the team won Ocean league for the first time in seven years. This season was lucky to have some amazing players like Nikola Kuraica ('21) who went undefeated, Segal and Collias who lead the team as great captains, and Oliver Catanzro ('21) who brought unique strokes to the games.
