Samo swim continues undefeated season
The Samo swim team stays undefeated in their season with another win against El Segundo High School on March 28. The team performed very well once again and it is looking like Samo is going to be a real threat come playoff time. Samo swimmer and water polo player Aaron Akhavan (’20) was pleased with Samo’s latest performance, and he noted that El Segundo’s new facilities were a big upgrade from their previous pool, however, the weather may have hindered Samo’s performance. “The main thing about the ‘Gundo meet was that they had a new pool instead of their grimey one. It was a huge upgrade from their last one. But It was really hot and a lot of people were getting sun-soaked and dehydrated. We took in a lot of sun and some kids got really tired,” Akhavan said. As Samo continues its path to the playoffs, Akhavan said that the swim team is very connected and that the influx of players that switch from water polo to swim for the second semester is great for chemistry because they can have the same group of people all year. “The same goes for club swim. Kids who do club swim together bring the chemistry to Samo’s team, it's like one big family.” Akhavan said. Samo will take on Beverly Hills High School in their next home meet on April 4, looking to keep their great performance up as they head into spring break and the playoffs.
