Boys' volleyball breaks losing streak against El Segundo

On Thursday, March 28, boys’ volleyball, outfought a talented El Segundo High School team in a hard-earned, five-set win. After their defeat at home last year, the team was determined to turn it around and bring in a win. Going into overtime, the first set accurately demonstrated the equal strengths the teams shared, power shifting back and forth throughout the entire game. Though Samo did not win the first set, the boys were able to make their comeback, taking the second and third sets thanks to the cheers from the crowd.  El Segundo fought back hard, winning the fourth set. However, this loss gave Samo all the more motivation to play stronger than ever in the final set, earning the win they worked so hard for. Co-captain Percy Bickford (’19) was thrilled with the team’s effort and success in challenging and beating El Segundo. “The team and I played very well and the victory was worth the work. We haven’t beat El Segundo in two years so it was very exciting,” Bickford said.
