Girls' softball slides into the new season

Samo’s girls’ softball team has been putting in the long hours, extensive effort and loads of sweat all year in anticipation for their next season. The time has finally come for the girls to showcase their talents, and the team is prepared to work harder than ever to achieve success.  Team member Emily Corona (’19) explained the steps the team took to ensure their preparation for this season.  “We prepare everyday by practicing and putting 100 percent of our efforts into it. We worked on what needed to be worked on and pushed our limits to make ourselves better we stay focused and still enjoy the practices at the same time,” Corona said.  Despite their inspiring dedication, girls’ softball is facing this season with the loss of many powerful team members who have graduated. Nonetheless, the team is determined to prove that they can continue to secure wins and only grow stronger as a team.  “Our team goals are to become closer as a unit and because we are a younger team our goal is to show everyone that size and age doesn’t matter and we’re just as strong if not stronger then last year,” Corona said.  Elizabeth Martinez (’20) shared the unrelenting efforts the team has put in to prepare for this season, they have worked through every single setback because of their passion for the game.  “Although the rain and sharing a field with baseball have caused some setbacks, we have prepared for this year by practicing fundamentals, working on mechanics and by having a winning mentality,” Martinez said. “We are excited and ready for season.”
