HOTLB: Pre and Post game rituals

Samo’s athletes work hard all year long to prepare for their season, but when it comes to the games, the nerves arrive nonetheless. These student athlete’s pre and post game rituals calm them down and hype them up for a successful game. 

Taira Sakamoto (Wrestling) - “Pre match I like to listen to music and just move around to keep my body warm. Post match our coach has us put on our hoodie and sweats and run sprints so we can maintain our weights.” 

Gabriel Gamez (Soccer) - “Pre, I usually listen to music and eat a good meal. Post game I stretch, chill and take a nap.” 

Ava Waterstone (Tennis) - “Pre game, I usually take a power nap on the bus. Post game I hop on the Peloton for a cool down and eat my favorite snack: Multi-seed Flatbread crisps with the Trader Joe’s “Everything but the Bagel” dip.”

Joseph Arriaga (Baseball) - “If I’m trying to calm down, I blow on my thumb to focus on my breathing. Usually after I just take my shoes off, take my socks off and take a shower.”
