Tom Brady waves goodbye

After 22 years dedicated to the NFL and seven Super Bowl victories, many agree it’s time for Tom Brady to settle down. Considered the most decorated football star of the twenty-first century, Brady’s contributions to the NFL will go down in history.

With his notorious win streak while on the New England Patriots, it’s sad to see Brady’s professional football career end with a defeat against the LA Rams after only one year on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, despite not receiving one last victory before retirement, Brady looks back at his career with satisfaction, stating the following in the interview with USA Today.

“I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention,” Brady said.

Fans believed Brady would continue playing for the NFL for years to come, and are disappointed to see him go. The quote “The reason why we can’t let go is because deep inside we still hope” is a perfect example of Brady’s situation with fans, as it will be hard for the NFL community to let go of such a well-achieved quarterback. Even though it came as a sudden disappointment to NFL fans, many knew Brady was bound to retire at one point or another.

Already appearing as a cameo in countless films, Brady might consider furthering his career in the acting world. It would not be the first time a retired  professional athlete  appeared in commercials. For instance, Shaquile O’Neal, who played in the NBA, and Wayne Gretsky, who played in the NHL, retired from their athletic careers and took to the screen.

With a retirement still early on in his life, Brady can pursue one of his favorite hobbies, photoshopping, or could possibly donate some of his NFL earnings towards charities, something he has been known to do in the past. Brady can now dedicate more time to his wife, Gisele Bündchen, and his children, Vivian and Benjamin Brady, as well. Retirement presents Brady with the opportunity to finally live his life, instead of returning to the NFL every new season. With the success he has achieved throughout his many years in the NFL, there is no doubt that Brady requires a well deserved rest.
