New S-house Principal

Carlee JensenManaging EditorJason Kurtenbach, former assistant principal at Torrance’s Medrona Middle School, will be replacing S-House’s retiring principal, Greg Runyon, on Jan. 31.Runyon announced his retirement earlier this year. At the time, he attributed his decision to a need to “start taking more time to be thoughtful about myself.”Runyon, who began working at Samo as a biology and chemistry teacher in 1985, worked closely with principal Dr. Hugo Pedroza to select Kurtenbach as his replacement.Kurtenbach has spent the last two years at Medrona Middle School. He has also served as the assistant principal of Casimir Middle School and principal of the Special Education summer school program at Calle Mayor Middle School, both of which are in the Torrance Unified School District.cjensen@thesamohi.com
