Girls' soccer beats Inglewood 6-0
Jones PitskerStaff WriterGirls’ soccer’s game against Inglewood High School on Friday, Jan. 27 ended victoriously with a score of 6-0.“The game went mostly well,” coach Jimmy Chapman said. “We were executing at the beginning and making goal after goal. But it seems like after we put in those last two goals, we folded and got lazy.”Samo scored four of their six goals in the first half of the game, two of which were made by captain Kristen Vasquez. However, soon after the second half began, Samo was unable to make any more goals.“We need to be a lot more aggressive,” Chapman said. “We were playing against Inglewood, who is not one of our big rivals, but if we had been playing against Beverly or Culver like this, they would have beaten us.”Though Samo won the game against Inglewood, Chapman believes that there is still the need to improve their playing style if they want to beat their other rivals.“We need to focus on playing for the full 80 minutes,” Chapman said. “We played hard for about 60 minutes, but we slacked off in the last 20 minutes, and our rivals will take advantage of that if we play like this against them.”jpitsker@thesamohi.com
