ASB gets the Homecoming dance to the Greek

The Samo Associated Student Body (ASB) hosted the annual homecoming dance in the Greek Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 11. The event, which was held outdoors for the first time, was attended by students of all grade levels, and included a dance floor equipped with lights, a DJ and a snack bar filled with food from local vendors.

According ASB Member at Large, Talon Hadfield (’15), ASB has worked since the beginning of the year redesign Homecoming week in order to bring Samo together.

“[The dance] ended up being extremely effective,” Hadfield said. “Not only was the dance a opportunity for students to enjoy themselves, but it was a great fundraiser that made close to nine thousand dollars.”

According to Emmett Powers (’17), the dance's new setup enhanced the Homecoming experience.“I like how [the dance] was outside and how it gave [people] an option between hanging out on the steps [of the Greek Theatre] or going to the stage,” Powers said. “School dances don’t really appeal to me, but I liked this one more than others [that] I’ve attended.”
