A nerve wrecking boys volleyball game
The boys volleyball team played a close game against Pacific Palisades High School on Weds. April 19. With two evenly matched teams, the game came down to pure skill and determination. The first match, which resulted in a score of 17- 25, put the boys in a tough position for the next two matches. “Our team played better throughout match two. We started slow but by the end we were matching point for point,” Skylar Sam (’17) said. Throughout match two, the two teams were evenly matched; the score was continuously volleying by one nerve-wrecking point. The match concluded with a tie breaker of 28-30, a slight and unfortunate loss for Samo.Matches three and four followed a similar pattern, creating an intense, edge-of-the-seat experience for everyone in the stands. “Even though we lost in four sets, Pali has a really strong team this year and we knew that coming in. Everyone knows each other in the volleyball community and I have played with many of their players before,” Sam said. According to the team members, their close dynamic is one of the strongest tools they have on the court. “Our team is very close so it helps with our synergy. My teammates on the court are also my best friends off the court,” Sam said. “Everyone is very supportive of each other and will step up if someone is slacking. We look forward to playing them again soon.”
