Boys golf gets closer to CIFs after win against Culver City

On Mon. April 24 the boys golf team defeated Culver City High School, shooting a 199. In the previous game against Beverly Hills High School, the boys beat Beverly by a large margin. In the match against Culver, Sam Cockrell (’18) shot a 38 and Brandon McDonough (’18) shot a 34, which is one under par. “Our game was pretty good. We beat Culver City by a lot. Everyone was playing really well,” David Shandalov (’17) said. “The whole team played really well. It was a successful match. I personally could have played a really better.” Overall the team had a good match, and was able to increase their playoff chances. According to Cockrell, in order to secure a spot in the CIFs, the team needs to continue to shoot below 205, but this match was exceptionally better than usual.Next, the team will be competing in a league qualifying tournament on Mon. May 1 at the Lakewood Country Club.
