Softball keeps up winning streak, getting closer to CIFs
The Samo softball team beat El Segundo High School on April 25, with a score of 11-2.Throughout the game, the team maintained high energy and staying determined. Although El Segundo started to gain energy later in the game and scored two runs, Samo bounced back and scored another two to match theirs. Assistant coach Leigh Campbell was very happy with the team’s playing.“We came out hitting the ball hard, we stayed aggressive and didn’t let down,” Campbell said. Overall we played a great 7 innings. We scored almost every inning and that’s all I could ask for them.”Even though Samo is still undefeated, they’re careful not to let their guard down on the field.“We try to play every team like it is playoffs,” Campbell said. “Every team has the potential that if we relax too far, they could come out, get some hits, and possibly win. So we try to play every team as if they are ranked number one.”With five games down and five left in the league season, the team is getting closer and closer to CIF. Makensey Druckman (’17) and her fellow seniors are extremely motivated to win in league because it’s their last chance.“We wanna try going far this year, especially because I’m a senior and most of the team are seniors,” Druckman said. “We’re trying to go as far as we can so we can keep playing with each other, since this is going to be our last year together.”
