Track and field runs past Hawthorne in opening league meet

The Samo track and field team won their overall home meet against Hawthorne High School on Thursday, Mar. 17.Samo lead with a large margin the whole meet and the team has started off the season strong.Kasia Krzyzanowski (’16) took first in the girls 1600 meter run, with a finishing time of 5:49:15. In the boys 1600 meter run, Lucas Jackson (’16) took first with a time of 4:35:75.From long jumps to high jumps to hurdles to sprints, the athletes are trained to be well rounded. However, many specialize in only one or two events.With an easy win in the first meet of the season, Samo track and field are preparing for the rest of the season, ready to compete.
