Boys' basketball kicks of season with hot shooting

A triumphant victory occurred in the boys’ basketball team’s first league game on Dec. 12. The Samo boys crushed Culver city in a dominating performance defeating them with a score of 80-58. Ethan Berks (’20) led the way with 17 points and seven rebounds. The boys looked great in their first game of the season. Their defense was stellar and there was no shortage on the offensive end.The boys dominated the entire game going up early, ending the first quarter with an 18-10 lead. They continued their fast paced play and outscored Culver in the remaining quarters. Along with their potent offense, they backed it up with great defense, holding Culver to under 20 points in each quarter. “We played an overall good game, I thought we could have played more as a team, but I’m happy we got the win,” Berks said.The boys look to improve to 2-0 on the season on Friday Dec. 14 when they face Hawthorn in a home game.
