This year, the boys’ varsity water polo team is off to a fantastic start. With a brand new pool and some old tricks, the Division III team has drawn a crowd to every game.

On Sept. 1, the team won their scrimmage of the season against Notre Dame, a Division II team. With a final score of 15-5, they set a promising reputation for the rest of the season.

Most impressively, the boys’ water polo team has been holding their intimidating place steadily for the past month. They scored 46 goals in tournament games alone before the start of October, and the team isn’t backing down anytime soon.

According to head coach Matthew Flanders, the team is especially strong this year with Niko Galvan (’22) and Darragh Flanders (’24). Both are All-League selection players from last year.

The team’s first Bay league game was on Tuesday, Oct. 5, against the Division I Palos Verdes Sea Kings, where the boys’ lost with a final score of 4-14.  As the Vikings gear up for the rest of the season, as well as more tournaments, their hardcore spirit is prominent throughout the school on game days. The team will play their first league tournament on Thursday, Oct. 21. The unwavering enthusiasm of the boys in the navy blue hoodies is unmatched and it’s even more radiant in the pool.
