Samo boys' soccer solidified its position in the second round of California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) with a hard fought win against South Torrance on Thursday, February 20. The final score was 2-1.

Girls' soccer overcomes injuries in preparation for its season
With up to eight girls out because of injuries during the pre-season, the Samo girls’ soccer team faces a huge obstacle this year. However, through countless hours of practice, sprints and even sprints, the team is continuing to improve and to both mentally and physically move toward their goal of starting the season strong and keeping a consistent level of play throughout the pre-season, season and all the way to CIF.

In an effort to raise student and faculty awareness about the negative side effects of plastic bottle use, the Ban the Bottle club held an assembly demonstrating the dangers of plastic bottles on Friday, March 23. The assembly was hosted by several club members and engineer-in-training Shohreh Janfaza.

After months of preparing, Samo’s College Center moved to its new home in B115 and awaits updated technology to help students with their college application process.
Advisers survey students for SPARC
On March 8, Samo advisers released the results of the surveys they distributed to second period classes on Jan. 24. According to I-House Adviser Jessica Garrido, the surveys were part of the recently implemented Support Personal Accountability Report Card (SPARC), which is used by the advisers to gain recognition for Samo’s counseling program.
