Girls' water polo beats El Dorado, 6-3
On Feb. 20, girls' water polo defeated its first opponents in California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) playoffs, El Dorado, with a score of 6-3.
Boys' soccer beats South Torrance, 2-1
Samo boys' soccer solidified its position in the second round of California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) with a hard fought win against South Torrance on Thursday, February 20. The final score was 2-1.
Girls' Waterpolo beats Culver City High, 4-3
Girls’ Waterpolo beat Culver City High School 4-3 on Tues., Jan. 12. At the half, Samo was down 1-2 but came out strong, fighting to beat Culver City in those last minutes.
Girls' soccer overcomes injuries in preparation for its season
With up to eight girls out because of injuries during the pre-season, the Samo girls’ soccer team faces a huge obstacle this year. However, through countless hours of practice, sprints and even sprints, the team is continuing to improve and to both mentally and physically move toward their goal of starting the season strong and keeping a consistent level of play throughout the pre-season, season and all the way to CIF.

Boys’ water polo was victorious against its crosstown rival, the Culver City Centaurs, with a score of 13-3 on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

The Greenies met their match on Wednesday, Oct. 17 when the boys' water polo team played El Segundo High School, its longtime rival and competitor in Ocean League. Though the game ended with an ultimate victory of 14-10, the boys needed to maintain the same momentum that they started the game with in order to ensure a win.

Though girl’s soccer came in third place overall in Ocean League and had high hopes for CIF, the team unfortunately fell short of their goals.

Girls’ soccer wins league despite dissappointing loss
The Lady Vikings have ended up victorious and remain the champions of Ocean League. Since Samo left the Bay League in 2003 and joined Ocean League, the girls have been atop the proverbial pyramid. This year they continued the tradition of winning Ocean League, but unfortunately for the first time lost one game to historic rivals Beverley Hills.
Seniors Julia Glanz and Lizzy Lyons sign National Letters of Intent
The “National Letter of Intent” certifies that a student athlete will attend an institution for at least one academic year. Lyons will be attending Fresno State and Glanz will be heading to the University of Arizona next fall. Both will be receiving full scholarships.

Greenies find early success
“Last year we had better cohesiveness, but this year we’re having more fun. I think we’re positioning ourselves well for our league drive, which starts in October,” coach Matthew Flanders said. “We could have won those games, but we were having problems with over-aggressive players.”
